2024-02-14

PORTAGE MINOR BASEBALL ASSOCIATION “AA” FAQ

Q: Is this a double roster team?

A: Yes, you are required to play on a “house league team” and then additionally play for the AA team.

Q: Will my child still be able to play in another Provincials tournament with the “house league team”?

A: Yes, AA provincials is a separate weekend that will not interfere. If your child plays AAA they cannot play in AA.

Q: How much of a commitment will it be?

A: This team is considered a “travelling team”. This will be up to the coaching staff as well as the team but at a minimum. You will have 1 practice per week, 2-3 tournaments, 3-4 exhibition games, plus provincials mid to late July (not guaranteed a spot in provincials, there will most likely be a play in tournament or mini series to qualify).

Q: How much are team fees? What is included with these fees?

A: Team fees will be determined on how many tournaments your team enters. The fees cover tournaments, & uniforms. PMBA pays for umpires, field rentals, provincial fees, and additional player development. We estimate it to be close to same cost as your house league registration fees minus fundraising booklets.

Q: How many tryouts will there be?

A: There will be 3 tryouts. April 23rd , 25th , and 30th .

Q: What does the $75 tryout fee cover? Will the $75 be refunded if my child does not make the team?

A: This fee covers outside personnel to evaluate the players, player development, and field/indoor session fees. This fee will NOT be refunded if your child does not make the team.
